  • Hey all, sorry if this has been posted else where but I can't seem to find any help

I recently received a EVOX modded unit in return for a some favors (beers) so I could run XBMC to consolidate my media library. I went to move the .xbe file as the default dashboard as it says in the set up, however I renamed the file wrong with the slip of a fat finger. Now the xbox will not go past the splash screen and I can no longer access it via FTP.

Not sure if this is appropriate for this forum or not, but I thought someone could help. I don't know much about the unit aside from it having an EVOX chip mod.

I know if I could restore FTP access I could change the file name properly, but I have no idea how to do this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Yes this is the wrong forum (xbox-scene.com is more appropriate) but I'll see if I can't steer you a bit. First problem is, there was never an "EVOX modchip" they made bioses and a dashboard nothing more. If you're SURE you have some modchip, all you need to do is gather the appropriate files (again, see xbox-scene.com for what and maybe where) to create a boot disk that will supply you with FTP. If on the other hand you xbox is in fact softmodded, you're likely in for quite the adventure, see the aforementioned website for possible solutions.

  • thanks for the reply.

i posted here mainly because the error occurred when trying to upgrade the xbmc from 1.0 to the latest version.

All I know is that the dash is Evolution-X from which I would be able to scroll down to the XBMC. Since I don't plan on playing games or anything I wanted the dash to be XBMC.

The guy who gave it to me said he "flashed it" and did a hard mod, I don't know what beyond that. He put in a 100GB drive on top of that.

I posted a thread at the other place so hopefully that'll be more of a help.

    Thanks again.
