  • Hi Everyone!

I am having trouble with my thesis template I was given.

I am using the Heading 1, Heading 2, etc. styles for my chapters and sub section titles. My first chapter numbers them fine, for example (Heading 1 style being the chapter title, Heading 2 style being the Sub sections):

    Chapter 1 title

    1.1 Sub section one

    .....

    1.2 Sub section two

    etc..

However, when I get to chapters after chapter 1, it does not format the way I want. For example

    Chapter 2 title

    1.3 Sub section one

    .....

    1.4 Sub section two

    etc...

It does not restart the Heading 2 style to 2.1 and 2.2... it just continues on from the last sub section in the previous chapter. How do I get it to start at 2.1?

I know if I make the Chapter 2 a numbered list (for example "2. Chapter 1 title") but that "2." is against formatting standards in my thesis. How do I fix this problem to restart the numbering and with the proper number for heading 2 style without making the Heading 1 a numbered list?

    Thanks!
